Quality Counts
In December 2022, Angmering Day Nursery became one of only a few nurseries to have successfully completed and achieved the Quality Counts award from the National Day Nurseries Association.

Our hard work was doubly rewarded by being able to achieve a Platinum Quality Accounts award, the highest possible, in recognition of the high standard of childcare and education we offer.
What is Quality Counts?
Quality Counts is a registered certification mark from the NDNA designed to distinguish the nurseries that offer only the very best and most consistent quality childcare. At its heart, it is a quality improvement scheme designed to showcase nurseries that want to reflect, review and improve their practice to the highest quality standards.
The award can take over a year to achieve and covers every area of our service and childcare.
What it means to be Quality Counts accredited?
Quality Counts is an additional accreditation from the NDNA that goes alongside an Ofsted grading, but the aim is to go above and beyond the Ofsted requirements and highlight the highest quality of childcare providers.
Having both an Outstanding Ofsted grading and now a Platinum Quality Accounts accreditation means that you can be certain that at Angmering Day Nursery, we offer only the highest quality childcare and are committed to improving the care we provide at every opportunity.
Achieving Quality Counts involves a great deal of hard work and development and illustrates a nursery’s absolute commitment to children. The nursery should be very proud of this achievement as the Quality Counts scheme demonstrates that children are at the heart of what they do
What they say about us
On receiving our Platinum award we also were given a copy of the assessment report for our accreditation, our report was filled with glowing descriptions of our nursery and the care we provide to all the children who attend. These are just some of the comments from our report.
From the main entrance to the far end of the farm at the bottom of the garden, it’s clear that The Angmering Day Nursery has the child at the centre of everything. The rooms are well resourced, well thought through and purposefully set out, all staff are aware of the need to create enabling environments that stimulate, provoke interest and a motivation to learn for all children.
Leadership and management at the nursery are exemplary. The manager and owner are passionate, supportive, consistent in her approach to the children and her staff team as well as continually reflecting on the strengths and areas of improvement of the setting. The team around her place a high value on reflective practice, working with others and building a nursery that serves the children and the wider community.
Excellent interactions between staff and children were observed. The staff team can talk knowledgeably about the children’s interests, capabilities and their stage of development. Staff are able to share examples of how they have supported individual children and clear on starting points and children’s progression. Warm and caring interactions with appropriate language and praise for each stage of development was seen throughout the observation.
Children with diverse needs are cared for supported at an exceptional level. It’s clear that they work in effective partnership with the whole family and additional professionals involved in children’s care. They are currently caring for children with complex needs and all staff hold a positive ‘can do’ mind-set in terms of how they can ensure all children are able to access all that is on offer at the nursery.”
Latest Ofsted Report

Our latest Ofsted report.
Angmering Day Nursery was inspected by Ofsted in April 2018 and we were proud to be awarded an ‘Outstanding’ in all areas.
Do take time to have a read through of our final report here:

Food Standards Agency inspections and awards
As with all premises serving food, we are inspected in the same way as your local restaurant or take-away, but more frequently due to the age of the children we provide food for.
The Angmering day Nursery has consistently achieved a ‘5 star’ grading over the years, under the careful supervision of Gemma our Early Years Lead Educator for food and nutrition.
Inspections are always unannounced, but we are always ready!

Outstanding Food Award – Children’s Food Trust
In 2017 the nursery earned a Children’s Food trust ‘Outstanding Food Award’. Here we are in the news!
Nursery’s focus on nutrition earns it a national award
Angmering Day Nursery has received a national Outstanding Food Award for its commitment to quality children’s food and nutrition.

The nursery, in Station Road, was certified by the Children’s Food Trust last month.
Juliet Best, from the nursery, said: “We have always been focussed on providing the very best for the children in our care and this includes, not only what we offer the children to eat, but also how we teach children about food, where it comes from and how to cook.
“We had two inspectors visit us for the day who scrutinised every aspect of our food delivery and service as well as our policies and procedures surrounding food and drink.
“Part of the experience for children attending the nursery is the ‘farm school’ approach where they grow fruit and vegetables in our developing allotment, so they gain a real ‘hands-on’ understanding of how our food is grown, and how delicious fresh produce is.”
Millie’s Mark
The Angmering Day Nursery team is proud to have been awarded a Millie’s Mark for the highest standards in paediatric first aid and emergency response for a second time in July 2021. This is a nationally recognised award for going above and beyond the minimum requirements in paediatric first aid. With its robust processes and documentation, the nursery staff strive to keep children safe by minimising risks and accidents and giving parents greater reassurance.

Aim of Millie’s Mark
The aim of Millie’s Mark is to keep children safe and minimise risk and accidents by:
- Raising standards in paediatric first aid
- Increasing numbers of paediatric first aid-trained practitioners
- Increasing confidence and competencies in applying paediatric first aid – no matter what the situation
- Enabling practitioners to respond quickly in emergencies
- Raising the quality and skills of the early years workforce and helping them with day-to-day first aid issues, such as allergies
- Providing reassurance to parents
Millie’s Mark accreditation is a comprehensive process. It requires setting to have 100% if staff working directly with children qualified in paediatric first aid – but involves much more than this. In order to be awarded, childcare settings must demonstrate that the learning is kept alive and in the forefront of practitioners’ minds, so they are confident, ready and capable should an emergency occur.
Achieving Millie’s Mark is a great achievement for the nursery, it shows that all staff are fully trained in paediatric first aid and that they have reflected on their current practice to improve competence and confidence. Becoming a Millie’s Mark’s nursery is a clear indicator for parents that this nursery has met the highest standards and gives them the reassurance that their children are safe
